＜Outline＞
COVID-19 has been causing a devastating impact in almost all countries worldwide, including high-, middle- and low-income countries.
Despite several significant outbreaks of emerging diseases in the past decades, none of the countries were well prepared for a pandemic.
The COVID-19 situation is still evolving, and uncertainties remain with COVID-19.
At the same time, there is the eminent risk of a future pandemic.
We must start preparing for the next pandemic based on the lessons learned from COVID-19.
